Highly regarded by faculty and students alike, Courtney Pfluger demonstrates an unwavering commitment to engineering education and innovative research. A dedicated chemical engineer with expertise in biomimetics, biotechnology, and sustainable energy, she has spent nearly two decades improving the quality of research and education in Northeastern’s chemical engineering program. With a focus on technology-enhancing pedagogues, she has been instrumental in transforming the way Northeastern students learn. She was the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Global Educator Award for creating and running eight faculty-led Dialogue of Civilizations programs in Brazil with a focus on sustainable energy. She began as an assistant teaching professor after completing her PhD in 2011, and she promptly redesigned the first-year curriculum creating courses focused on sustainability and clean water. She has been recognized for her role as a mentor and instructor, winning several prestigious awards, including Residential Life Faculty Member of the Year, the Chemical Engineering Sioui Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the College of Engineering Essigmann Outstanding Teaching Award.
