Travel and Off-Campus Programming Requirements

Before traveling or participating in off-campus programming, Northeastern students, faculty and staff should check theTravel Protocols page to ensure they have completed the appropriate travel form(s).

Travel to a destination on the High-Risk Country List may have additional requirements and require prior approval.

Travel Registration

Northeastern University requires all students, faculty, and staff to enter their travel itinerary and housing accommodations into “My Travel Plans”, also called the travel registry. You can access the registry through “My Travel Plans” in the myNortheastern portal or directly via the GardaWorld Travel Security portal.

The university suggests travelers also register all side-trip itineraries, especially those that involve overnight accommodations away from the program destination.

Insurance

The below information is provided by Risk Services. Please visit their website or contact them at insurance@northeastern.edu with questions about insurance and coverage.

All travelers are required to have personal health insurance that provides coverage for their care while traveling when participating in Northeastern-sponsored trips.

Northeastern maintains a comprehensive program to respond to costs associated with accidents and emergency/urgent illnesses that arise during Northeastern-sponsored trips. This is not health insurance.

Northeastern University does not insure the personal effects of students or employees, and generally does not reimburse travelers for cancelled trips.

Should a traveler require proof of insurance to obtain a visa for a Northeastern-sponsored trip, they should contact their program coordinator or the Office of Risk Services at insurance@northeastern.edu to request a Confirmation of Coverage Letter.
