Mission
The mission of the Ombuds Office is to support fairness, equity, and humane treatment in the workplace. The Ombuds Office exists as a confidential, impartial, and informal alternative for resolution of workplace concerns for faculty and staff.
To support this mission, the Ombuds Office works with:
Individuals
Helping faculty and staff approach workplace problems constructively. The Ombuds helps individuals sort through problems and concerns, identifies options, makes referrals to appropriate university resources, coaches individuals in effective communication and conflict resolution techniques, and facilitates dialogue.
Groups
Facilitating constructive resolution of differences and helping people work together better. The Ombuds can provide informal mediation, group facilitation, and conflict resolution training.
The University Community
Identifying trends or patterns for positive change. By tracking systemic trends the Ombuds is able to provide anonymized feedback about employee concerns to help foster healthier work environments.
