IR Staff Transitions

Usamah:

After more than seven years at Northeastern University, University Decision Support data analyst Usamah Suhrawardy spent his last day in the office with his UDS colleagues on August 17th. Usamah accepted a new role at Brandeis University where he will be moving on to support data analysis and reporting for their business school.

Usamah served in Northeastern’s advancement unit for four years prior to joining UDS first as a data analyst and more recently as a senior data analyst.  In the course of his seven years at Northeastern, Usamah has evolved from a data enthusiast to quite a key institutional research contributor.  Following Larry Bernstein’s retirement in 2020, Usamah stepped up to assume much of our HR data analysis and reporting.  We will always be grateful to Usamah for his hard work and many contributions to our team, and we will greatly miss his wit, his sense of humor, and his Boston sports commentary around the office!

Haiyan:

Formerly an employee of Lesley University, Haiyan Liang has joined the University Decision Support as a data analyst within our Institutional Research team. In her new role, Haiyan will be supporting external reporting as well as ad hoc internal data requests.

Haiyan was formerly an enterprise data analyst for Lesley University’s IT group and served as the lead analyst in their strategy and implementation team.  Haiyan has brought to UDS a wealth of technical expertise and subject matter knowledge in the IR field.  At Lesley, Haiyan was responsible for the university’s IPEDS, NECHE, NC SARA, CAEP, and Clearinghouse reporting.  She is quite a whiz with SQL, Tableau, and Python, having completed her Master of Data Science at WPI.  We are excited to have her on board!

Maura:

Our latest addition to the office is newly minted data analyst, Maura Fields who has joined the Institutional Research team as a direct replacement for Usamah.  Maura impressed her Northeastern interviewers with her passion for data and analytics and her motivation to pursue a career in the field.

Maura is a seasoned project manager with experience in the commercial industry who recently shifted careers after gaining formal training in analytics.  She has experience with basic data analysis, SQL, and Tableau, and brings a unique, fresh perspective to our team. Maura is excited about transitioning into higher education and working full-time with data and we are glad to have her!
