Honoring Recent Award Recipients: “In the Spotlight”

Dear Northeastern Community
Today, we highlight how recognition in academia takes many forms – from prestigious awards and fellowships to leadership roles and lasting legacies. We celebrate two extraordinary members of our faculty whose achievements exemplify distinct and meaningful ways scholars can impact their fields: through the establishment of a namesake award that will inspire future generations, and through elected leadership of a major professional organization.
University Distinguished Professor Patricia J. Williams of the School of Law and College of Social Sciences and Humanities has received a historic honor: the establishment of an award bearing her name by the Race and Private Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools. The Patricia J. Williams Award creates an enduring legacy that will recognize future scholars, celebrating her transformative contributions as a leading critical race theorist, feminist legal theorist, and private law pioneer. Her influential scholarship, including “The Alchemy of Race and Rights” and her recent “The Miracle of the Black Leg: Notes on Race, Human Bodies, and the Spirit of the Law,” has fundamentally shaped legal discourse and education.

This distinguished appointment recognizes her twenty years of dedicated service and visionary leadership in advancing pharmacy education through impactful strategy, professional elevation, and collaborative transformation.
