Alan Mislove

Biography
Alan Mislove is a professor and the senior associate dean for academic affairs in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. Mislove’s primary research interest is algorithmic auditing: he develops methodologies and study the real-world systems that millions of users interact with every day, focusing on issues of algorithmic discrimination, fairness, and privacy. He is a core faculty member of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute, which forages partnerships with experts in industry, government, and academia worldwide. In 2023 and 2024, he served in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, most recently as Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer for Privacy.
Mislove was a recipient of the NSF Career Award in 2011, multiple distinguished paper awards, a Google Faculty Award, and a Facebook Secure the Internet Grant. His work has been funded by Amazon Web Services, the Army Research Office, the Data Transparency Lab, Facebook, Google, and the NSF. He has testified before Congress, and his work has been covered by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and CBS Evening News
