David Luzzi
Senior Vice Provost and Vice President for Business Development
Biography
David Luzzi is the Senior Vice Provost and Vice President for Business Development, bringing extensive experience in transformative, high-impact initiatives. During his tenure as Senior Vice Provost for Research and Vice President of the Innovation Campus at Burlington, David led a remarkable rise in the institution’s research stature, with an increase of 420% in research expenditures, Northeastern’s rise to R1 status, the establishing of labs in the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) and EXP buildings on the main campus, the creation of the 105,000-square-foot Building V on the ICBM, and the launch of the Arlington, VA Campus.
David also oversaw the growth of the Kostas Research Institute, achieving an average compound annual growth rate of 93% for eight years, and assisted with the growth of Northeastern’s Biopharmaceutical Analysis and Training Laboratory into a center of excellence approved by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the International Council for Harmonisation (ICH), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
David joined the university in 2007 as dean of the College of Engineering. Under his leadership, new academic programs were launched, such as the PhD in bioengineering and the Master of Science in energy systems. Many faculty members and professional researchers were recruited, hired, tenured, and promoted, and important achievements were made in philanthropy and the cultivation and recruitment of corporate and alumni leaders.
