Mike Pollastri
Senior Vice Provost
Biography
Michael Pollastri serves as a senior vice provost and academic lead at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine, where he oversees the learning and research portfolio. He joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in 2009, and rose to the rank of full professor in 2017. Pollastri then served as department chair, and then as interim dean of the College of Science, until moving to the Roux Institute in June 2020. In July 2022, he was engaged as the provost’s office representative at Mills College at Northeastern, in Oakland California, where he coordinates the integration and academic planning processes.
Pollastri previously worked at Pfizer in hit-to-lead medicinal chemistry for almost 10 years. In 2007 he joined Boston University, where he led the establishment of the Center for Molecular Discovery, a resource focused on high-throughput screening and medicinal chemistry optimization capabilities. His research focuses on the discovery of new therapeutics for neglected tropical diseases. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, a master’s degree from Duke University, and a doctorate from Brown University.
